Bandwagon
What is Bandwagon?
Bandwagon is a technique that persuades people to follow them by letting people know that others are doing it too.
Analysis:
This propaganda poster was used by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee in London to get the commoners and people from different specialties to join the war effort. By portraying a long line of people enlisting as soldiers, it uses the Bandwagon technique as it tells the audience that “Everyone is doing it, so therefore you should do it too and step into your place”. The effective use of space in this poster helps make the eye naturally flow across the poster in a “Z” formation. Thus, the design and idea helps make the poster stand out. By showing civilians in different attire change into a group of soldiers towards the end of the line, the poster tells the audience that no matter what job they have or who they are, everyone can enlist in the war and become successfully trained soldiers. The line seems to continue on, once again showing how it uses the Bandwagon technique.
